Central Jersey Man, 22, Arrested In Triple Shooting: Prosecutor

A 22-year-old man from Central Jersey has been arrested in connection with a triple shooting, authorities said.

Jhamir Hoagland, of New Brunswick, was charged in the Saturday, July 16 incident, according to  Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Director Anthony A. Caputo of the New Brunswick Police Department.

At approximately 2:43 a.m. Saturday., police responded to 142 Remsen Ave. near Los Amigos Bar for a shooting. 

Police found one female and two males who had each sustained a gunshot wound. The victims were taken to a nearby hospital where they were treated for their injuries.

On Thursday, July 22, an investigation by Detective Keith Walcott of the New Brunswick Police Department and Detective Christopher Pennisi of The Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office led to the arrest of Hoagland and determined that this was not a random act, the prosecutor said.

Hoagland has been charged with one count of first-degree conspiracy to commit murder, three counts of first-degree attempted murder and one count of second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

Hoagland was being held in the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center pending a pre-trial detention hearing in Superior Court.

The investigation is ongoing.
